Gagik Apkarian

Gagik Apkarian has over fifteen years of experience in private equity, investment banking and management consulting in the U.S., Europe and Australia.

Mr. Apkarian is a member of the investment committee for Capinova Funds – an India-based family of funds focused on public and private opportunities on the Indian sub-continent.

Prior to Tetrad Capital, Mr. Apkarian was a Managing Director and a general partner at Vulcan Capital - the investment office of Paul G Allen (co-founder of Microsoft with Bill Gates). His team had the dual role of restructuring a diverse $10Bn+ portfolio of public and private equity holdings, and of pursuing a diverse range of investments in transformational situations, including private equity and public securities. In his role he had lead responsibility for the majority of the invested capital in Mr. Allen's portfolio with companies ranging in enterprise value from less than $100 million to over $20 billion. He was a member of or an observer on the boards of directors of these companies and a member of Vulcan Investment Committee.

Prior to Vulcan Capital, Mr. Apkarian was an investment banker in New York and London with Bear Stearns and Morgan Stanley. During his career he executed over $100bn of M&A, restructuring and financing transactions across industries with clients in the US, Western and Eastern Europe.

Mr. Apkarian also worked for several years at McKinsey & Company in New York and Australia. In that time he was engaged in turnarounds and post-merger integrations that led to significant reduction in cost and improvements in operating performance across industries. He also advised numerous companies on key strategic issues.

Mr. Apkarian holds a B.Sc. with double majors in mathematics and physics and a B.E. in electrical engineering, graduating with first class honors, from the University of New South Wales in Australia. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
